Business Unit Leader

Business Unit Leader

Our business unit leaders run the medical practice or ambulatory surgery center. At the medical practice, they lead the daily operational and clinical functions, manage staff and resources, and ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and procedures.

At ambulatory surgery centers, the business unit leader is typically a nurse, so they are also involved in surgeries and patient care.

Our billing specialists handle all medical billing responsibilities, such as patient insurance claims, payments, and statements. They also handle any questions from patients, clinical staff, and insurance companies, so customer service skills are important!

Our RCM specialists are responsible for tracking revenue from the patients’ initial appointment to the final payment of their balance. They’re key to understanding the business process in the ambulatory surgery center or practice.

What will my work schedule look like?

Work schedules depend on the type of role and if you work at a medical practice or ambulatory surgery center. Our business unit leaders work with each employee to make sure their schedule works for their personal life while fulfilling the needs of the business.

Generally, our ophthalmology practices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours at our ambulatory surgery centers depend on the unique needs of that particular business unit. For example, there may be a surgery scheduled for 7 a.m. that will require the team to arrive early.

What is VIP Management Services Organization's role in my individual practice or surgery center?

VIP Management Services Organization supports our business unit leaders and makes sure they have the tools they need to support their teams and physicians. We look for opportunities to make business operations work smoother and flow better.

How is VIP's work/life balance?

Do full-time employees receive holiday pay?

No matter when they started, all full-time employees receive holiday pay when their work location closes for an official holiday!

What benefits does VIP offer?

Our employees’ health and wellness are important to us. To support our team, we offer the following benefits:

  • 401(k): Part- and full-time employees can contribute to their 401(k) plan after six months of employment. We match 100 percent of contributions up to 3 percent and 50 percent of contributions of 4 percent and 5 percent. Our company match is fully vested immediately—this means the company match is yours starting on the first day of contribution.
  • Basic life and AD&D: We pay for basic life and accidental death and dismemberment for full-time employees.
  • Dental: We offer dental coverage to full-time employees starting on the first day of the month after 30 days of employment. Our dental plan covers everything from standard cleanings to dentures.
  • Discounts: We offer all employees a PerkAccess program with discounts for local restaurants, stores, and even vacation destinations!
  • Employee assistance: This program is available to employees 24/7. This resource allows employees to confidentially talk with professionals about concerns such as mental health, elder care, child care, or financial matters.
  • FSA and HSA: We offer a flexible spending account (FSA) for child care or healthcare costs and a health savings account (HSA) to save funds for healthcare costs down the road.
  • Long-term disability: We pay 100 percent of the premium for all eligible full-time employees. This benefit partially replaces income throughout the disability period.
  • Medical: We offer our full-time employees healthcare coverage starting on the first day of the month after 30 days of employment. There are four different medical plans to choose from, so you can choose what is best for you and your family.
  • Paid holidays: Full-time employees receive holiday pay when their work location closes for an official holiday.
  • Paid time off: Full-time employees accrue paid time off hours starting on their first day of employment. Employees can accrue up to three weeks of paid time off in their first year!
  • Supplemental/voluntary insurance: Eligible full-time employees may purchase additional accident, disability, critical illness, and hospital insurance.
  • Vision: We offer vision benefits to full-time employees.

Can I continue my career with VIP if I move to another state?

When your life changes, we can change with you. There are plenty of different opportunities within the VIP family—all you have to do is talk with your business unit leader and human resources team. At VIP, you have opportunities to move vertically, horizontally, and even geographically.

I want to refer someone to join the VIP team! Do we have a referral program?

Absolutely! We offer up to $1,000 for referrals.

How do day-to-day actions have an impact?

No matter what your role is, you help people every single day. You help people achieve better vision or better health in general, whether you’re the first face they see when they walk in the door or assist with a surgery.

What advice does the VIP team have for potential applicants?

A positive mindset and willingness to learn and communicate are very important. At VIP, you’ll get to know everyone in each position, including business unit leaders and administrators, so you have to be willing to communicate and step outside of your comfort zone.

Not having experience in ophthalmology isn’t a bad thing! We have many different types of roles available. Some important things we look for are a positive mentality, outlook, and attitude. The amount of experience you have is specific to the role you’re applying for, but a willingness to learn and work with others and a positive attitude are important no matter what your role is.

Are there any opportunities for training and development?

Yes! In addition to on-the-job training, Vision Integrated Partners offers other onsite and off-site opportunities depending on job role and tenure. We also offer a workshop series that includes live workshops, regional workshops, and virtual collaborations with subject matter experts to make sure the team is supported.

Will I be provided training if I want to learn more about Ophthalmology?

Absolutely! We work with industry-recognized subject matter experts to ensure our team has on-site and/or virtual training opportunities to support their education in ophthalmology. Additionally, we have internal subject matter experts to support you as you learn about the field of ophthalmology!
