Description

At The Macula Center in Clearwater, FL, we have an immediate opening for a Referral / Authorization Representative to join our dynamic team. 

This is a Monday - Friday, Day shift position... No Weekends/No Holidays!

Responsibilities:

  • Navigate Insurance websites for patient benefits/referrals and Authorizations.
  • Verify patient benefits and update information when necessary.
  • Request referrals from Patients' Primary Care Physician
  • Request authorizations from Insurance companies for services being rendered.
  • Request Medical records from primary care physician when necessary.
  • Interact with patients and discuss coverage when necessary.
  • Update the PM system with Authorization/Referral info.
  • Medical office experience is needed. Ophthalmology experience and Insurance knowledge would be a huge plus.
  • Have vital customer service and communications skills to interact positively with everyone.
  • Must be able to juggle and prioritize multiple responsibilities and handle interruptions positively. 
  • Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills and be compassionate to help patients and caregivers.
  • Understanding of electronic health records, medical terminology, and HIPPA compliance. 
  • Other office duties as requested by management.
  • Providing the highest communication and service to all patients, staff, management, and vendors.  
  • Have vital customer service and communications skills to interact positively with everyone. 
  • Able to juggle and prioritize multiple responsibilities and handle interruptions positively. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and compassion to help patients and caregivers.
  • Understanding of electronic health records, medical terminology, and HIPPA compliance. 
  • Data entry, research, and verification of insurance coverages for patients procedures
  • Medical office experience is needed. Ophthalmology experience and Insurance knowledge would be a huge plus.

Requirements

  •  High school diploma or GED required 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and mentor employees
  • Ability to perform and cover for each administrative job manager supervises 
  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Must be able to answer calls in a friendly and enthusiastic manner
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time accurately and efficiently
  • Must be able to problem-solve
  • Must be detailed-oriented
  • Must have excellent communication skills, proper grammar, and writing capability
  • Must be team-oriented
  • Must be self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess a caring, patient, and friendly attitude
  • Must have previous medical office experience
  • Stable work history in a medical practice. Strong insurance background a plus
